Lucy & Phyllis - a black owned and operated bookstore. Named after Lucy Terry and Phyllis Wheatly, two phenomenal authors who blazed a path before they knew there was one. Lucy Terry, the author of the oldest known piece of African-American literature, "Bars Fight," and Phillis Wheatley published her book Poems on Various Subject, Religious and Moral in 1773, three years before American independence.
Lucy & Phyllis is committed to supporting voices of diverse authors in all 12 months - not just in February and operating in a manner that leaves our world a little bit better than how we found it.
